Cosplay Notes: Doctor Strange

The first thing I did for this costume was make the hooded cape. Luckily I had about 6 yds of dark red stain fabric lying around from a project that never came into fruition. The red fabric was paired with about 12 ft of gold brocade trim I picked up from Joanns. I definitely recommend using McCalls M6420 for creating full and wind-catching capes. The cape only took about 2 nights of work to complete.

Cosplay Notes: The Dark Lady

Not too long ago I realized that up until this point I’ve mostly been cosplaying comic book characters, but Atlanta doesn’t seem to have that big a comic book convention scene. There’s Dragoncon of course, but the other two big cons are Momocon and Anime Weekend Atlanta, both of which are more focused on anime than other types of nerdom (like comics or video games). So, I decided I needed to plan some anime cosplays.

Witch-Craft: Skyrim Doormat

Greetings dovahkiin! This project was inspired by my old roomie’s Skyrim quest marker she created for her bedroom door. I’ll go ahead and admit this project did not go as smoothly as I originally envisioned. Thanks to my mistakes, I can tell you what not to do! Cosplay Notes: Bombshell Batwoman

The dress was originally a simple black collared, button-up dress I picked from Forever 21 a while ago (side note: I miss wearing this dress. The sacrifices made for cosplay…) I removed the gold buttons and replaced them with bright red buttons and used red bias tapes as trim around the arms and neckline. I had sticked the lettering and numbers on the back of the dress with red felt. When I made this dress back a few years ago the Bombshell Batwoman figure wasn’t released yet so all I had to go on was the variant cover that didn’t show the front of her dress.

Cosplay Notes: Luna

Around the time I started working on my Dark Lady cosplay, my buddy Jeppo told me that she wanted to start cosplaying. I want to get as many friends as possible to join me in my cosplay endeavors, so I agreed to make her costume for her. Being relatively new to sewing we wanted to go with a simple costume that wouldn't take too longor be too complicated to make. Since I was already working on Sailor Moon cosplay (Jeppo also being a fan) we both agreed that the human version of Luna would be great first cosplay for her.
